Explorers
Welcome to Explorers Class!
Explorers class is a mixed age class for Nursery and Reception age children. We aim to give all children the best possible start to their education through practical learning activities. The majority of our Nursery children attend mornings only and Reception children stay for the full day. They are taught by Mrs Gregg (Monday/Tuesday Teacher), Mrs Vardy (Wednesday/Thursday/Friday Teacher), Mrs Seward (Teaching Assistant) and Miss Beresford (Teaching Assistant-Mornings only). If you have any questions about the Foundation Stage Curriculum please talk to any of our fantastic team.

Our PE day is a Monday. On a Monday, we have PE with our coach from Amber Valley Sports Partnership. Children will need to come into school in their PE kit on their PE day. This is for reception children only.
Both Nursery and Reception will also take part in a Yoga Bugs session led by a yoga instructor each Tuesday morning.
Home learning
In reception, we follow the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds programme. The children take home a reading book each week that closely links with their phonics stage. We encourage them to read this as much as possible over the week before returning it to school. You can also take a look at the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Resources for Parents page: For parents | Letters and Sounds (littlewandlelettersandsounds.org.uk)
We use Tapestry to document your child's learning at school. We encourage you to share any experiences, achievements or successes your child has at home by uploading photos, videos and observations to Tapestry.
