Welcome

At Mickley Infant and Nursery School we believe that all children deserve the best start to their education that we can give. We are able to accommodate children form the village and surrounding areas. We are fully accessible for disabled visitors and pupils, with ramped access and accessible toilet facilities. This website aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing up to date information for parents, pupils and the wider community.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and the safety and well being of our children is at the forefront of all our school activities. Visitors will be asked to prove their identity prior to being admitted into school and this may be further checked with the Governing Bodies of agencies if further clarification is needed.

Our site is situated in Mickley Village, Stretton, near Alfreton, Derbyshire. We are a small school with 2 classes- a Foundation Stage Class and a Key Stage 1 Class. Each class is supported by at least one Teaching Assistant.

We are very proud of our school which was rated as "Good" with "Outstanding behaviour and safety" in 2017.

We have extensive grounds including two trim Trails and a Forest School area. We also have a large canopy area to encourage outdoor activities in all seasons. We aim to offer excellent support for all children before they start, during their time with us and as they move on to Key Stage 2.

We encourage a friendly relationship between home and school and are happy to discuss your child's progress with you at any point during the school year as well as at formal parent meetings. The staff value the contributions that parents and the community make to the school.

Mickley Infant and Nursery School is part of the Derbyshire Partnership for Learning Teaching School Alliance. The Alliance is made up of Nursery, Infant and Primary schools across Derbyshire. Mickley Infant and Nursery School is also part of the Alfreton Nursery School Teaching School Alliance. We are also part of the five pits cluster of schools and follow the memorandum of understanding for the cluster.

We would like all our children to wear school uniform. We have a selection of pre-loved uniform available in school. New uniform can be ordered from the school office. Our colours are blue and grey / black. Children need to have a change of clothing for P.E. P.E kits are available to purchase in school if you wish but any shorts and t-shirts are acceptable. You will need to provide plimsolls for your child. Please remember that when your child goes up a shoe size, they will go up a plimsoll size too! Please ensure that your child's name is in any P.E kit.
