Welcome to Sunflowers Class!

Sunflowers class is a mixed age class for Nursery and Reception age children. We aim to give all children the best possible start to their education through practical learning activities. Nursery children attend mornings only and Reception children stay for the full day. They are taught by Mrs Gregg (Teacher), Mrs Elliff (Teacher), Miss Nash ( Full Time Teaching Assistant) and Mrs Hardy (Part Time Teaching Assistant). If you have any questions about the Foundation Stage Curriculum please talk to Mrs Gregg or Mrs Elliff.

Today is pancake day. At snack time we tasted pancakes!

Monday 4th February

We read the story 'The Gingerbread Man'. We then had a go at making our own gingerbread. We were worried they were going to escape out of the oven so Miss Nash had to keep watch!

21st January 2019

Look at our fantastic writing! The reception children have been having a go at writing a sentence about the story 'Goldilocks and the 3 Bears'.

18th January 2019 Ice Experiment!

The shapes have been frozen in the ice, how can we get them out? We discussed ways to melt the ice, here are our ideas...

  • Hit the ice with a hammer
  • Wrap the ice in a towel
  • Leave the ice in the classroom to melt
  • Put the ice on the radiator
  • Put the ice in cold water
  • Put the ice in hot water

We found out that putting the ice in the hot water melted the ice the quickest. We also learned that the ice wrapped in the towel melted the slowest. We learnt the words 'freeze' and 'melt'.

November 2018

We visited the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield. We had a tour and then had a go at high jump, running, long jump and basketball.
